A very informative webinar brought to us by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. This webinar talks about how we can use various technology resources to help protect our kids from bullying.
Show Transcript
Welcome to our workshop on social media and technology technology specialist here in San Antonio National bullying prevention center and I've been at Luther for about 3 years weather contact information we haven't talked about anything yet but just noticed I missed our appointment as well if you have any questions about the please feel free to contact our child administrator interview questions three questions to ask for those of you on Twitter the person start off as a little bit about what paper is it won't leave you here so patient has been around for 40 years and we initially got started on back in 1977 when the individuals with disabilities trying to help parents trying to figure out why I'm right there child had an education system to over 30 different programs transition employment who dress like a cow and then we'll talk a little bit about the boys are Simon Technology Center but what's unique about cancer and that we support children call Mental Health Resources for students with olives is going a little bit prevention center so the correlation between disabilities in Fort Wayne is that kid looks abilities are fully to three times more likely than their peers how to program an entry got started mm mm they weren't really sure what like they had or what they can do about it so we strong forces and curriculum formula for a person 2006 members and you had a great response yet for all you have to do for his birthday this with disabilities nausea Center is a program that I represent I'm also the lending library coordinator for assistive technology so I'll talk a little bit about that as well was created the technology more available and wow multiple professionals are using our lending library and a services so like I said we have a lending library individuals are able to technology for a 30-day. And they can make a decision based on that 30 days if they can't make a decision within that 30 days give me anything from Doctor pencil to the telepresence robot or things like alternative communication devices are also stuffing ham really awesome we offer free consultation as much of the time when you can sit down with a specialist in assistive technology and work through inside the technology. Beyonce news for adults as well specialists in our Technology Center that all have different Focus so I work with middle school kids reading and writing as well as if you struggle with time management and organization, but we've also got so much and focus on communication and then we do anything if I was workshops like this one service is where we go. And then we have special projects as well which include technology for young children like early childhood education program transition so who is the president of the agenda that we have planned for today was really excited about this person to start with online bullying resources that we have different taste her I'm going into what bullying is I'm and cyberbullying some of the unique characteristics about it we'll go to having a conversation with your child how do you start a conversation with your child when I first started to get online will go into the importance of good digital citizenship we have some really great videos and information about that option for technology 64 what technologies to try to help you navigate the Austin that might be a good fit for you and your family and I just wrap up question and then and I wasted so give any questions please let us know if it'll live stream as well I would be happy to answer that question as well so first I just thought we'd get tired of a sharing a little bit about the resources. So within the national bullying prevention center the majority of our resources are based on line December National Organization that's really but we found the best way to read the First Resource that we have and there is tons of information on here later if we have lesson plans for Parisienne informational we actually have a whole hog on what parents should know about always that walks you through what you can do from the first step that your child tells you to work in with the school and fell off and policy is we have different contest emotional tons of information on there that's really mad for paraprofessionals or any adult what came to get more information where to report for kids in TN and what's really great actually asked him what do you want to see about the lane and created the website from their approaches there's great videos resources so I recommend this. Only 40 in my parents of teens that may want some tips or advice that's how you approach that topic with your middle or high school today the last one is the Pacer so this is the equivalent for elementary school as long as the more content but just not for age-appropriate younger language dumb things like I miss you backdoor you demonstrate at one of my favorite features on here and leave a section called ask Carmen where kids can write and ask Carmen any question about bullying and she will respond to them, Nevada if your child ask you a question about bullying and maybe you're not sure how to respond to it we actually post all the answers try to get some ideas on how you can have that beginning conversation with your Elementary School through that kind of like Siri yeah your time 3/4 mg actually have the equivalent on the team website it's asking me so there is some really great questions on they're all from real kids and beans and then we posted answers as well Stouffer's before you really get into what cyber bullying and I thought we can start with what bullying in general and there are so many definitions out there about time you see it here in the media you really found some Hallmarks when it comes to the definition of Blaine and it comes down to three things so the first thing is that preacher harm to another person physically or Sanford Health kids to find it I think this is going to be fine to start with him what bullying behavior is but there's a few other guitar have difficulties. Kids and adults for help. Because they haven't been able to stop that behavior on their own so this is where we see the difference between power but there's always end on the power has more power over the target there was conflict often do then we'll have it in full tower animation when they get into a fight they have the skill to bring it back to me the power and she didn't necessarily have the ability to resolve the conflict about the difference between conflict and power work probably would but there's been in Dallas that stopping them from being able to do that that's just kind of a good boy. TLC here when the definitions of cyberbullying you'll see a lot of correlation from the last definition of intentional act distributed by a group using contacts electronic medium continuously relentlessly against someone who cannot stand up for himself or herself easily still see again of games of not being able to stand up for themselves or the Hartford find an aggressive intestinal app and it's through the electronic media so that I can do things like cell phones that can be easy I can email the internet at the bottom that can be when they're starting to get online is when someone uses technology to send me any more. most basic definition for this is a great one night when I first starting to go online to talk about it so what makes cyber bullying we actually did a panel with a group of students a few weeks ago talking about cyberbullying and one of them had this great line saying that terrible and physical bullying that is so true and cyber bullying I'm just as hurtful just like the physical or emotional the first is that may not know who it is or why they're being targeted so there are a lot of different anonymous apps out there I'm even the ability to make anonymous Facebook real start looking around the late expecially when you're going to school and you're not sure who it is. the second aspect is with cyber bullying and can have a much larger audience so compared to bowling or maybe it's something that said in passing in the hallways this me something that can be posted for everyone to read especially with social media I can reach you like it has this new bar last text to Alex is really scary for kids of not knowing who's being at or how many people have seen on WhatsApp help that I love you easier with technology kids are behind it I'm online through social media classes at and can happen anywhere when we were first ever going to is the new bathroom wall right before Technologies out there right now to make fries out the bathroom more Fresno cyber bullying they might write it on your Facebook wall or on a Twitter message and you can't get away from it is 24/7 can happen anywhere day or night and it's really tough for scans because they don't ever have that relief from not having to deal with that maybe you know they're not able to share that information for you we are the information doesn't get out of yeah it really never goes away with hyperbole so how do you start that conversation we really encourage parents just as you talk with your kids about or I can park or I get a butt talk with them about how to release date online in this new Cyber World especially when they're first starting to get on technology which is starting to get earlier and earlier how do we really fun and interactive experience for kids so starting with the definition of cyberbullying conducive starting rehearsal is dead. Cyberbullying for lot of Ashley maybe they're so sweet you're trying to fit in with a new friend. definition of what fiber going is there going back to few slides up when something mean or hurtful and sad or shared online I just making sure they really understand that it's okay to an adult if they do experience that conversation is a huge piece for technology as well and I'll talk a little bit about that later I'm very important to have a conversation and open the door to technology or are you talking about are we just meeting at the new place that your kids are in Iraq after the park how do they interact on the cyber world what part of that is as you're having that conversation how do you spell cyber safety rules with your child it's great for when they're getting online guidelines and you have together talk about is it for whenever you have their first cell phone information such as a phone number or an address if you want to chat with a stranger in person don't share with someone online you can establish if your child could add friend too bad not bad so maybe a friend of a friend. Can they add that person on food but they had a mutual connection their online connection the flight what type of content to make share that can include photos videos of will you monitor what they post or do they have a little free another thing I think about it give me your friends with your child on Facebook. So maybe that's the way that you decided that you want to monitor what they're doing and that's all you have to do so it's depending on exactly or maybe you have two passwords social media know that it's not okay for them to experience that. Demonstrate that behavior kindness online in this new Cyber world surgical Concepts now broken down into a few I will get to that knowing what your child privacy is important for it being safe online so I can go see you guys India and they are having access that Facebook or Twitter account and established how you interact so maybe it be friends with me but you can't post anything on my Facebook wall this is what it looks like in person maybe they have friends over I'm making a password what will you do if you see inappropriate I need to find together for the technology but they just put it downstairs in the kitchen maybe it's where the computer is Captain the living room or things like you're interacting with the conversation privacy settings your child when they are going online especially with social media Facebook Instagram Twitter before or as your setting up together and make sure they're on the privacy settings you want to go there that's public friends only private really talk that threw together that's how many what's the best setting for your child and then have them really take inventory of what social media sites their on different forms of social media and ask your child is on Witcher 3 play some great technology for now but Erica will talk about a little bit later on down there and then suggesting things will talk more about this in text I don't want to be a leader untied content privacy settings are really costly involved especially as more teams are all numbers block new popcorn solution I know it's late from Instagram of what your child can have to be in yet so what do you do if your child does experience cyber bullying first another thing to improve my conversation is what will happen if they come to you so many students fear that they tell their parent about cyber-bullying the technology is then taken away. congrats about it beforehand I am a know if you do come to me for not going to take the technology but we'll figure out a solution together of how you can be safe online and there's some really great stuff you can take the first we always recommend for taking a screenshot of the cyber bullying evidence or the screenshot of the cyber bullying video image packed I'm having that hard copy is really important for your own documentation determining the point of contact at the school lot of schools are now actually Perforating cyber bullying in their school policy I might think they're realizing the impact that cyber bullying that has on a student's day and the impact that it has no education to determine career point of contact is at the school counselor principal more information on the policy and then who that as needed for kids of the cyberbullying so those screenshots or you're out that you have to the school and then just let your correspondence with them so I'm reporting pulling onto your child's School absolutely be used with cyberbullying as well I've just been attacking the screenshots to a technology who are we going to blame for turning off the device it's going to be good at the text Erin yeah really make a huge difference yeah and so if the cyber bullying is passing on social media then a few extra steps that you time to respond to that they are options for students and parents and how you can respond cyberbullying a few that are available Twitter Instagram Safety Center or Facebook it should come up with more tips on way to respond to any crafting or Miller online so if you options are untag yourself from the photo and friend the person you can block the person you kind of report the content to Facebook reporting so kids can actually report to the friend or the individual was posted the photo. Maybe it's embarrassing or they want it taken down right there on thing to say and they there are always options on ways you can report the behavior of trying to take him down immediately especially if it's cyber bullying okay it's alright why are we so you to say do you want to do just cuz I think you know a little bit more about to make sure that was actually created by the door and stuff so Erica will talk a little bit about it what's great is that included students and parents about what cyber bullying is and the way that it impacts family is so again these are some more like extreme so that every incident of cyberbullying is like this but I think it's a great example for how do we really have that conversation between parents and she does right and why it's so important to have the conversation before it gets to the case it might take a very long time we want to do that perspective oh yeah one area of a sphere text message sorry about that okay right next to the carrier okay you're hungry 24 IMDb what is he can't believe me completely unaware that there was this other for that was reaching out and negatively impacted you so much we started take a walk over the years and yet what we didn't realize was that Daniel would be Cyber Bullied every single day set alarm for 8 minutes so excited. how important having that conversation is another parent how important it is for you as well what's going on our way for every parent to know everything that's touching their child especially now in the new digital world I mean I'm 24 years old I can't keep up with what's going on what I want to talk about now is something called digital citizen Citizenship that really means appropriate and how do we be friends call an average maintain physical world and the world in general and I think before I get started on the time the term I'd like to show you guys this video that means you slept good and unfortunately little bear with us and then we'll show you the video weird child friendly parent Grammy Manor on the break down the pieces of what it was so White Oak Library Fritos really fun OK Google map me to you let's protect the replication take before they close at 1 or 10:20 or 3 today stone crabs come from 393 North Carolina Marc Anthony I want to do a Christmas tree yeah yeah yeah I know what they say about what call wife. yeah so we're just going to leave you video which I'm going to stop by in a little bit but the good digital citizen is very similar to how do you do the citizens in our world what means what does it mean to be a good citizen but at the same time there's no idea. Once it's there it doesn't go away and how do we access it and maybe it's with you all day instead of being like you said on our way back from Locker where is coupled up and clean the car and a bite on the internet where did the notes go where's the message go so it's the only talked a lot about what it means to Cyberbully somebody the harassment embarrassment someone getting individually targeted through a piece of technology or through a digital school so whether it's just on your internet browser on Facebook or you're being targeted Snapchat very popular these days meteor that he messaged through Snapchat and so there's so many different mediums review can you buy with food and then within digital citizenship you want to advocate evidence of Citizen you an advocate I can you want to come back cyberbullying so that's a piece of what does it mean to be a digital citizenship mean that you fight back against that and I know what it is when you know that it's wrong weather you're not cyberbullying yourself or you are protecting your friends and those beers at school from cyberbullying that's a huge piece of what it mean yeah Services absolutely footprint which really means when you start your cell phone Google what do you find what what kind of impact have you made on the internet can you have the published article funeral as a child could be somebody but I really encourage talking to hear Tyler what have you put on the internet what information is out there for people to see and how can I get to talk to you in your life where I'm from protecting your privacy I'm going to talk a lot about today that can help you protect your privacy. It's hard to know you know who can see it what you're doing our site or website staying Norton Security the people a video about having a conversation with your child about cyberbullying they have this great family service that I'll talk about later on. Quite affordable and I can really protect that at the same time just knowing this is my address here's my phone number here's my email any information about where you'd like to share with anybody so protecting your privacy you piece of being a good digital citizen and protecting the privacy of those around you 5 Hacker Way about to put pants on he is so intellectual property let's say that in a different way so really what that means is what do you have the right what's imagine your students at school and take a source and they don't fight it with research paper or maybe they use a picture that's not they don't have to pay for I know I've had friends who post their photography online and then that talk if he's taken by somebody else so knowing your rights and what do you have rights to refuse part of it and I know this is a lot of information within one so Common Sense Media is a great resource to really familiarize yourself with what it means to be a good day went with your child and maybe I'll get into this in a little bit but what they do is they provide seems unlimited resources for how you can be an advocate for this and how you can bring it your charm school how you can get your facts about understanding the new landscaper turn off change argue pictures of some professional Fort Pierce Florida to 1st Avenue. for now great value Clorox to support estate questions about the part of the brain that controls emotion Alliance Home is reputable and sterile copy paper for PC Little League Ohio Kerr concrete will be home tomorrow for Fernanda call Cathedral World 500 pencil for creativity for Uber driver support Apple AirPort arguing but I really do I think that Common Sense Media has an incredible information for people and you can really get involved in being an advocate for being safe online preparing your child to know this is how I use technology to make me and Laura and this is how this is when I need to be safe in this is what I mean so and what I love about video comparison to how before his neurology kids still want to interact with fries or just wasn't a different way to that nice really has always been there but now I have no it's either a different way of doing that SmartWay okay so, what it is is it's a website it's also an application you can have on an Android phone or an tablet iOS for Apple device I got committed to making sure that children and adults alike cared for this beautiful world and then they also support a lot of other innocent alongside that one this is the one that I really wanted to highlight subscribe to if your appearance appearance website a little bit specifically for parents and they also have a professional Educators portion of their website and then they also have another website as well or you can get involved actively and their mission in join the movement of Elsa videos for kids and she and her some videos music maybe watching a few videos together to really start that discussion up there is a great resource for all this information of the world they have resources for parents things that they have interviews of apps that you can use to monitor your children's tablet usage iPhone usage they also have reviews and ratings of other apps that maybe you want subjects in school parent log-in read what other parents are thinking about and what parents are concerned about so it really videos from the side like the videos I've shown you today and Sandra professional but when things are professionals that I think very powerful is that they has the lesson plans curriculum videos and you can also add or you can also excusing you can you can become certified in digital citizen education so one thing to talk about if you are a professional YJ or here or if you want to get involved in your child's school and advocate for this idea citizenship education and they will it will show you how to have really enforce those laws I'm sorry if I do Common Sense Media 12 so that's just something to consider as technology continues to the classroom volume is really bringing things like kindness and acceptance and inclusion to the school so it seems like digital how do you bring those things things like into the cyber world Express online so does anyone have any questions before I continue on about Common Sense Media or digital citizenship and again I know that you are my stream just feel free to send Brandon a message through the window if he will alert us and we can answer for it answer it for your life is one more thing about common sense media like I said they have this movement that really advocates for children driving in the changing Noodle World so what are your parents here specially or I can just want to get in navigate from this digital citizenship concept then when you visit Common Sense Media contact me and help me get involved in the neck started on really exploring technology is available I just want to start by saying have that conversation with your kid about no here's what the technology is I know that's out there what do you know about and decide together okay so what's the best way for me to monitor what you're doing on Facebook or computer monitors okay so when are you going to turn off your tablet so have a conversation is with your child first and if you are? ways to be safe as well and digital citizenship and introduce those Concepts before you introduce the technology and I really like the image here how did everything started so is it true is it hurtful is it illegal for children and adults alike pay them to think about how is it so easy to talk but once you do especially at how quickly it conversations on social media and online and it said how quickly people can type and respond to things before you post to Twitter you can write back and forth so quickly yeah for now it's the same and realized you guys think before you act so before we take too far in technology I just want to talk about Apple tablet Yapple your iOS device your iPhone so no that's okay alright so here I got my iPad Pro but you can use any of your iOS devices this will be available by phone I've had so if you go into your Saturday go to you can enable these with a password so just give me a password that maybe your child doesn't know that you will again have the conversation okay so I'm interested in your iPad I'm going to turn off I'll show you what the so here you are able now to enter your password you can turn up there is Future's on your eyes sunburn sample if you want to turn off in-app purchases all the apps that you have purchased you can turn them off at the click of a button you can turn off all of these things have no access so they can install apps they can't use FaceTime they can't use their Safari browser but maybe they can use the camera and maybe there are different and there's also inability to turn off specific websites only either websites that I can drink beer and these are the ones that I'm okay with my child are you can have all websites on high or you can limit to adult content it'll filter that for you you can also manually enter and never allow this but I wouldn't allow that so what you do is you just go in and type ww.w. Facebook or whatever what sizes you want to block this is great because it's built into your device already this is not something you have to purchase it something you are precious future do you know your restrictions if I wanted to go back in as a child I changed so I can't because I've set a password on that but if you have any questions or password on your to open your device at 10 this morning okay so the? If you type in the password multiple times first section will it lock you out as it does when you lock your iPad from the outside completely and not I do not know for sure but I I want to try it out it must be something 1 minute 5 minutes 10 minutes other stuff on the tickets to access the rest of the iPads would have had access to private. so in-app purchases I think that means that they will not be able to purchase there within an hour another feature I'm here waiting I wanted to show guided access Hayden Panettiere get here you can leave your opinion so guided access on right now at all what it does it allows you to lock the device onto an app for a certain amount of time so if I were to go with you I might try to see you I was Matt and I can triple click the home button and I can do guided access and then I can set a time limit so I can do time I want they can only access that application for that time. so actually I can do okay so that again is driving does anyone have questions about that and that's under accessibility accessibility in the settings on your iOS device or if you have an iOS device just go through here and see what it's capable of because Apple for things like accessibility they do a really great job of making sure every great okay so that's about it for was available on in Iowa where is going to switch ice cream to Grandview hiding from us grave so unfortunately I don't have an Android tablet here to show you like I did on the iOS tablet but I did a little research and it looks like the cosmos Android tablet you can go and then go to control center in a pain as I did on this device and then you should be able to select certain filtering as well but that's that's dependent and I really need to know how it works but one thing I do know is that there are tons of applications that you can use for Android to really really control that tablet that directly takes you to Google support and Google Play walk you through how you would do some restrictions on the tablet step by step there's an app for Android devices and it's called limit Lisa what if. is it it's pretty by the way that it's a loss apps and if he manages limited are managed to his living as long as you have Wi-Fi the weather here at home school work so you can actually do this African schedule device uses so if you wanted your child to be able to use their tablet for an hour after dinner at home you can schedule at in you can turn on there is application one-by-one at any point and you have complete control of that allows you to display are you here reminding you that you need to sleep so the tablet will turn off in the tablet kind of is this media so you don't have to have that conversation with you I would like to go to bed I just turned off and that's it so what you do for this app is you install it on your own device and I'm going with Device of your child and then you can remote you can remotely from the outside on your control the tablet and this again is just for Android so that's a solution like I just said not too familiar with what you can do just with the tablet itself but this app is free to download app from the App Store question on the tablet cuz my kid have a brother and sister but I am reading and user for your child because yeah because that is the main use of your beauty that if the parents Bryan you can you know her Canasta billable to whatever unlock you do you have that actually exist dragon from Lake Garda all that show the menu for you'd want to stay at the parent or guardian or whoever because that have access to everything any uses but you can okay but you can set up another user be a guest or whatever you think text Kathleen do you want them to you okay on their yeah it's so hard to know what you can do so what she had said is that there are Android tablet profile so you can create profile for your profile has those restrictions that to what things you need for that specific care. Which is you have a lot of pain so maybe having an Android tablet repair alright so this again this is limit me and one of my favorite features about this app is that it says it allows you to get the kind of a reminder why tablet turns off when I forgot that I'm talk to me about that restrict your dad talk to me. So Not only was also created and another thing that if they have this cell phone monitoring service that works for iOS devices as well as Android devices and it's 699 a month but what it does is it allows you to see what your child may be targeted Are You Christmas special so that you can have a conversation with your child I want to see what's going on like me who say you want to have some evidence so this is an app that will allow you to see what you said or your messaging I'm Yours you can see me within so it's pretty invasive so this is definitely one that you would want to talk with your child about it and see if it's the best solution but I think there are some cases where the time they are good if they're able to communicate to you that I'm going to tell you something's going on so this would be a way for you to really see a combat cyber bullying and the guy misses for Android and iOS so whether we got it works for both and it does give you a dashboard that you can pull up on your so what cause when you turned out that day or messages were exchanged on Facebook you can see what coming in as long as I'm out and when I first read about this I thought that it sounded incredibly and facing a lot of private information teenagers I received a child who is a vulnerable maintenance again this is talk text cell phone moderate monitoring service and is also an actor Starcraft is another app that's free and it's for iOS with this one you actually are not able to turn off specific apps you can just turn off the device in the pole and you can schedule ad you're able to use your iPhone when you're at home in the morning but once you go to school going to try on so it allows you to grab that really is again kind of evaluating the situation and talking with your child is this is this our best solution and you have to pay for it screen time parental control app is also for IOS and Android I could save us now there are so many apps like this out there it's really overwhelming Common Sense Media and look at those and see what other parents just that I was thinking back and they'll do official like security analysis black be really helpful and again so this one is similar to limit but it's a little bit more expensive so you can use it on and go again but you must be as well as you can, you can play school times for individual app so if you like set a daily time limit you could go in and set a daily time limit for Minecraft you can set a daily time limit for any of the other kings maybe you don't want to spend how to set up a time when you can use me is it raining or you can use this hour that you have of Minecraft more flexibility to get kind of complicated with which African do what so just look into it a little bit deeper and see if it is something that would work show me varieties of a Sandpiper control Sprout there's an early find stuff for your house by 10 your family yes yes yes yes? one Google account for Android of one or whatever very late in my family thing in it good for you know yes or whatever cuz there's something out there that is available to monitor all devices in the home would I list app Android and I'm going to start raining so hold on tight and a couple things. So I can show this video Northern Lights management classes in Indianapolis the number already I'm going to talk about it more in-depth idea of what that would look like the amazing technology so this is actually a one time payment of $99 and is available in the US and Canada but that's it and it works with your WiFi so if you have WiFi at home just looking at the little house that was supposed to say and it's actually not a circle ironic and so this can actually monitor pretty much anything that you have in your call so if you have an apple it'll pick it up right away exactly so smart TV American filter content so the profile when you when you set up a circle app on your phone you'll get a pro your partner and everybody in the house and you can go and that filter content you sure you want to filter the content for a certain age group if you want to do it for and then you can also turn off various applications and block certain websites that really gives you the full picture in one big deal and so you can say then you can do it differently for each character who got kids a different bed then place your life so if you want to just quickly kill your husband Birmingham Leon. Are you have something that you want and your cousin but I think it's really powerful feature of the circle and you can set the other app that allows you to do those things as well go for any occasion it also gives you some feedback and 30 hours from Minecraft allows you to consider okay so how much time have I spent relaxing the other how much time you know if I spent too much time with family I really like the evaluator using technology to incorporate the entire family can the rest on your phone first five six hours a day we're not going to be on our phones five six hours today so really role modeling that behavior isn't see you in person of how we want them to been asked online and it's very similar to the circle so really remember everything I just said device is that it gives you the ability to sign a contract was in okay like we're in this together like we were we're going to monitor what we're doing and how much time or Sunday on the internet and if we're going to say all those things and you can create specific rule how do you think I should go again a really really grateful for big families who all have some kind of technology and you stays pretty much everybody kept on saying go bad conversation conversation are great when we are in person disconnect New York it does not have its own WiFi so you just plug it in and it came up to 3 to use this one so I think there's probably some differences between the and the circle is fine the way your family so wifi isn't always there so you might want to contact your service provider to see if you know how can I monitor if my child is on their phone your dad from 8 to 3 so during school I can really smart your child doesn't always have to have something Verizon Wireless actually spoke to one of the other day and is the Family Day hasn't gotten technical difficulties on your own phone and it allows you to kind of monitor daring you said other phone so Haley's dad made it to the wireless providers are depressed like T-Mobile Red Bull have different pretzel controls out there so if you do have a different color on Friday or I would just said bye squat parental controls you have out there are ways I can monitor my child's day. Had a great time the most all of them have something to do I was doing some research on right now T-Mobile has similar features contacting me asking what they have and you never know. Maybe it makes more sense to do it to your service provider okay so Norton Security wonderful about having a conversation through child support and they have something called Norton Family where would you take from 3999 I think they got some discount so I wasn't sure what the prices and nothing you really think I want to die and then you can set your browsing on a laptop it'll pick it up you can use it in multiple ways within your phone haha but it really makes that browsing experience is the little filter out contact that's not going to be appropriate and be protected from viruses I'm not working at you and then you can have that conversation about I suppose we can talk about it together and talk to her why it would be inappropriate and that you're really about charges against that conversation exactly so it's not immediately like locking you out of something Guardian that's a great service in this is something that you can use with CenturyLink or comcast internet provider yeah when you get it where you can see this information in one place is almost like an app for your computer cord right there where you can see everything I want to be surprised you haven't heard from you in a while and it's about $20 a year and what I thought was really interesting is that it'll white it'll create a whitelist so you can put in the website would like your child be able to view on those are going to be the only websites that they can't you and it also in general just filter out just came out with another DNS program health safety and I don't know too much about yet but that's something to look into as well really keep your your browsing experience something new and used for internet surfing browser and then cool Wallace days in a wifi router and actually have its own WiFi where's that separate from your own so you can connect your kids devices to this koalasafe router and that way they can only contact router and filter creative eyebrows and it keeps track of history and after usage taking keep up with what to Monitor and want to limit Nevermore $90 one-time payment and then you have that separate for a server separate router koala saved and then there's something simmer I called horse and a little bit more ? I think it was just for a minute warning here is very similar to what is that uses Dynamic internet filtering which is really just keeping them off inappropriate what's a compatible and they're worth having something for Android so this would be something that you would have to use only with Apple safe browsing experience and it works separately from your home life I know it was on router so if you have lots of devices at home this could save this could be your home so your child are you yourself could browse faster classical music and stop before we wrap up I just want to talk about how important to have a conversation when you're exploring technology is not better than yours and I think when you introduce it in a way that's like let's do this together a lot more productive yeah it's something with all the new apps I think you want me to come doubt so quickly it together and what do you and your friends like to do with AB or on social media and having to go down together great way and then again you take me to buy stuff for technology or after helpful for your family or hurting those days as well as part of your figuring out all right everybody has any questions normal weight for a relaxing time to hear that stupid but if we do have Evans on YouTube Twitter Facebook interest and interest while I'm here we also have a really great pictures for digital citizenship you're interested in learning more about topics that revolve around being a digital citizen a good to the most of the time interest of the Great Recession that spell supposed to Educators Boston ever after Ever so please follow up on. And I'm here. Is our contact information and I do have a few of my business cards here as well. please contact us if it's going to happen so
