Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Aide
 
Summary:  Aides are utilized to maximize student learning in the classroom.  Their primary function is to assist the classroom teacher in providing a safe, supportive, effective, and well-managed learning environment for all students.

It is expected that the instructional aide will contribute to an environment that is supportive of student learning and respectful of the dignity of students, fellow staff and parents.  
 
Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Aide - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  •  Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists teachers in the assessment of student learning (one on one or small group).
  • Assist with supervision of daily routines and schedules.
  • Works with the teacher in making appropriate adjustments in the instructional program and as required.
  • Provides limited supervision of the class if a teacher needs to leave the classroom for short periods of time.
  • Provides information and assistance to a substitute teacher should one be assigned.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during meals, emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, or field trips.
  • Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with school policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher, Learning Services Coordinator and/or the Principal
 
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  

The position requires:
 
  • The ability to interact positively and patiently with children.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Minimum of an Associate Arts degree or equivalent
  • The ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
     
Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds and to stand for extended periods of time.
 
Supervision and Evaluation:  
The aide is provided direction in tasks and duties by the teacher. He/she is under the direct supervision of the Learning Services Coordinator in cooperation with the Principal and will be evaluated annually.
 
Benefits and Pay Rate: This is a part-time position not eligible for benefits (20 hours per week).
 
Rate: $20.29 per hour. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
Hours: 8am-12pm.

Substitute Teachers

Job Description: 

St. Anthony School is seeking certified substitute teachers on an on-call basis for grades Pre-K through 8th grade. Successful candidates will join our substitute teacher pool to fill short- and long-term sub positions depending on need.

 

Applicant Requirements
 
  • Hold a current Washington State Teaching Certificate or the equivalent from another state or hold a substitute certificate
  • Be mission-centered with a strong desire to be part of a faith-based community
  • Demonstrate the ability to create a safe and engaging classroom learning environment
  • Model excellent classroom management skills
