6th Grade

Sixth grade has many fun and exciting activities unique to our grade level. Students serve as safety patrols throughout the year. Many participate in mass through altar serving, reading, and as musicians. Sixth grade has service projects such as assisting with the parish food bank. Students collect, organize, and bag the food and help to transport it. Additionally, students use their brawn to help move auction items. Sixth grade traditionally goes to Outdoor Education at Camp Colman for several days/nights for an enjoyable camp experience. During our study of Ancient Greece, students participate in a "Greek Inventions Shark Tank" experience in which staff assist as sharks for students to present their ancient creations.

At the end of the year, we attend the Museum of Flight and participate in the Mission to Mars Simulation. Throughout the year, students are given many opportunities to use technology and hands-on learning experiences. Sixth graders participate in Band or enrichment classes. Enrichment classes meet with the school specialists during the school day and work on activities that further their learning experiences beyond the required curriculum.

We look forward to working with our students and their parents in order to help each student reach his/her potential.

About Ms. Rodriguez

I feel blessed to join St. Anthony this year. I have had a diverse teaching experience that has instilled a great love of my craft, and has shown me that any child no matter background or circumstance can achieve great things. This is also influenced by where I grew up. I was fortunate to grow up in Hawaii and as such have a great love for diverse food, people, and culture. I completed my Bachelors in Journalism at Utah State University, my Masters of Education (emphasis on curriculum and instruction) at American Intercontinental University, and my teacher certificate at California State University Los Angeles.  I am extremely privileged that my entire immediate family has found a permanent home here in Washington, and have grown to treasure this area, and its people. I have relished hiking, running, and paddle boarding all over Washington. This place is such a magical place and not one I take for granted. I look forward to serving the great students and community of St. Anthony.

Favorite Bible Verse: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

About Mr. Johnson

Welcome to Sixth Grade and Class 6B!

It has been my pleasure to have taught in the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic Schools for thirty-nine years. This will begin my thirty-sixth year at Saint Anthony’s Catholic School. I have had the joy to teach grades 4-8 over the years. It is a blessing to be able to see my students grow, learn, and prosper in education and life. Then to be able to see them grow into adults is a true gift. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Oregon State University and completed my teacher certification at the University of Washington. My wife, Tessa, teaches first grade at St. Patrick School. We are proud parents of two adult children and have recently become grandparents. I enjoy time with my family and especially my grandson. We like to travel, especially the Oregon and Washington coasts and Disneyland.

Favorite Bible Verse:
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
