Physical Education Specialist
St. Anthony School's Physical Education program is designed to teach fun-packed physical education lessons in a sequential co-educational program. It is based on sound educational principles, and teaching methodology and meets the requirements for current P.E. curricula in the United States.

NASPE National Standards for Physical Education
Standard 1:
Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
Standard 2:
Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
Standard 3:
Participates regularly in physical activity.
Standard 4:
Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
Standard 5:
Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
Standard 6:
Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.
The primary objectives are:

to foster in children a love of physical activity and play

to instill a need for physical fitness in each child

to develop coordination, grace, and control

to provide opportunities for increased responsibility in planning, organizing, and leadership

to give children as wide a skill, games, and dance experience as possible

to present opportunities for children to belong to a group in which each child is accepted

to provide experiences which will develop initiative, self-reliance, self-worth, loyalty, honesty, kindness to others, and a love of learning

to develop a sense of fair play and cooperation in children and the ability to work in groups, leading to increased cultural understanding

to provide opportunities for integration of P.E. with other subject areas: language arts, math, social studies, science, health, music and art
