Principal's Letter

Dear Families,

 

I am pleased to announce that we have filled the two open positions in the Development Office.  The new Director of Development is Carolyn Wiemals.  She has an extensive background in marketing, along with over ten years of volunteer work here at St. Anthony School.  She will be joined by Susan Covello, who will be the Data Analyst.  Susan has an extensive background in database systems and was a Senior IT analyst in the financial field.  They will both be formally introduced at the PTC meeting on September 26th. 

 

Sister Joyce Cox, BVM, the former Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese, will be our guest speaker at the PTC meeting.  Sister Joyce will speak on the importance of our Making a Difference Annual Appeal.  If you have not heard Sister Joyce before, you are in for a real treat.  I encourage all families to attend.

 

In an effort to increase the security of our school campus, I am taking the step of locking the Shattuck Ave. gates on school days between 8:45 am and 2:15 pm beginning October 1st.  I am also working with the safety committee on installing additional security cameras and looking into the feasibility of a new automatic door system that we can activate during the times the doors are not monitored by a staff member.  This would allow people to be “buzzed in” to the school. 

 

The School Finance Committee and the School Commission will conduct their first meeting of the year tomorrow night. We have gotten off to a great start; let’s enjoy the journey!

General Reminders

 

A couple of housekeeping items to remind people of:

 

Please be aware that it is against the law to stop anywhere on Shattuck Avenue to drop your student off.  Renton Police do give out many tickets throughout the year.

 

No photos taken of students (other than your own of course) at school or school events should be posted to any social networking sites.  If you would like to take pictures at school, you must have a signed photo policy on file with the school.  You can download one below.

The lost and found, located on the landing outside of the 1st and 2nd Grade classrooms, gets donated at the end of every month to different charities.  If your student is missing any items, please check the lost and found before the end of the month.

 

 

 

 

Vision and Hearing Screening for Grades 1 and 2

         Friday, September 27, 2013

 

If your child wears glasses for distance vision, please make sure they bring them to school on screening day.  Volunteers are needed to help on this day.  Please email Diane Kane at kane@sasr.org if you are interested.  

Scholastic Book Fair Thanks

The Scholastic Book Fair was a big success this year.   Carolyn Wiemals and Casey Shorten would like to thank James Parish, Lisa Lindstrom, Denise Thom and fifth grade students Elsa B-H, Lyly N, Olivia T and Megan W for all their help.  Because of the ongoing success of the program, all the teachers were invited to come buy books from the fair for their classrooms.

The Roadrunner PTC would like to extend a special thank you to those who helped make our Tailgate party such a great success -  Lorraine Stanger, Chris Hanson Hughes, Chris Rodriguez and  the many parent and student volunteers.  We would also like to thank the Knights Of Columbus for making the fabulous chili and for the hotdog preparation.

CYO News

 

Basketball Registrations

 

Basketball registrations are now open for boys and girls in grades 4-8.  Registration forms can be downloaded below and can also be found on the St. Anthony CYO Website.  

 

Please return the completed form along with registration fee to the school office marked for CYO

 

Deadline to turn in the registration form is October 4th.

3rd Grade 3-on-3 Basketball Registrations 

 

We are also accepting registrations for 3rd grade boys and girls 3-on-3 half court games.  Games will be four 10 minute quarters.  Number of game days will depend on the number of teams that register; however, we anticipate 3-5 games.  Please return the 3rd grade basketball registration form by October 4th.  Contact jodiirey@amazon.com if you have any questions.

CYO Sweatshirt Orders Being Accepted

 

St. Anthony CYO is now accepting orders for sweatshirts. Crewneck and hooded sweatshirts are available for $20 and $30 respectively. Personalization can be ordered for an additional $9 more. Please be aware that the youth sizes run very small. Download an order form below.  Return orders with the payment to St. Anthony CYO by September 27th.  Please make checks payable to CYO.  Please note that in accordance with the uniform policy, neither sweatshirt can be worn indoors at school.

Coffee and Doughnuts

 

St. Anthony School Parents are sponsoring the coffee and doughnuts after the 7:30 am, 9:00 am and 10:45 am masses at St. Anthony Parish this Sunday, September 22nd.  If interested in helping, contact Penny Tobacco at ptobac@yahoo.com or show up after mass to help out.

Girl Scout Troop 42206 and their siblings participated in the Wings of Karen 5K Bra Dash on Sunday, September 15. They walked and ran to raise funds that will be used locally to find a cure for breast cancer. All Saints Catholic School Fair Parking

 

The Washington State Fair in Puyallup begins on Friday September 6th.  Help support Catholic education in East Pierce County by parking at one of the All Saints School’s fair parking lots.  Our main entrance is located on 7th Ave SW between 2nd & 3rd St SW.  Our paved parking lots are located on 3rd St SW between 5th and 6th Ave SW in downtown Puyallup.  We are just a short distance from the main gate of the fairgrounds.  Look for our friendly volunteers in the red aprons who will assist you with your parking needs.  All proceeds from our fair parking fundraiser go directly to our operating budget.  When parking with us consider bringing a non-perishable food item(s) for our Parish Food bank; last year we collected over 1,000 pounds.  Do the Puyallup and help Catholic schools!
