Principal Deacon Michael

I am in my tenth year as principal of St. Anthony School and my 26th year as a Catholic School principal. Prior to this, I was a high school Social Studies and Religious Studies teacher. I became a permanent deacon in December 2020.

I completed my BA degree in History at UCLA, I then went on to Loyola Marymount to earn my teaching credential followed by a MA degree in School Administration at the University of San Francisco. After that, I completed an advanced administration certificate at the University of Portland. The coursework for the deacon program took about four and a half years. I am currently in the Latino Enrollment Institute at Notre Dame. This is a program to inform Catholic School principal’s strategies that promotes greater access to Catholic schools for underrepresented Latino children.

I am married with three children, my son is in Law School and a graduate of Gonzaga, my youngest daughter is a freshman at the University of San Diego and my eldest daughter is married and living in Austin. My wife and I have been married nearly thirty years. She is a pre-school teacher at Mary Queen of Peace Parish School where I serve as deacon. I continue to paint and create art (when I can fit it in!) which has been a lifelong passion. I paint a new picture every year for our school Christmas card.

I love St. Anthony School because we have wonderful teachers and staff, supportive families, the best kids and a great pastor. Our community is always so generous, and it is a joy to serve this community. I get a real sense of Christ’s presence in our school each and every day.

St. Anthony of Padua,

Pray for us!
